Alena Akhmadullina is a ready-to-wear and accessories label born out of St. Petersburg in 2001. Creating a world that blurs the lines between the natural and imaginary, Alena’s collection romanticizes nature through richly colored illustrations of flora and fauna printed onto luxurious silks like crepe de chine and satin. From oversized metallic leaves sewn into delicate organza and portfolio clutches with floor length fringes, Alena uses storytelling as a lasting inspiration for her creations.
Alena Akhmadullina grew up in St Petersburg and launched her namesake label a year after graduating from the St. Petersburg Academy of Technology and Design. Showing regularly at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia, the brand debuted its ready-to-wear collection in Paris for the first time in 2005. In 2006, Alena won Glamour Russia’s ‘Designer Of The Year’ award, after which she opened her first flagship boutique in Moscow. The brand also received the Elle Russia Style Award in 2008.
Always searching for different ways to express her imaginations through design, Alena created costumes for the participants of the closing ceremony for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. Her collection was also worn by Angelina Jolie in Timur Bekmambetov’s 2008 movie ‘Wanted’.
Alena sees her brand for the woman who longs to incorporate a little fantasy into her every day and enjoys taking risks at every age. Whether coupling a boxy oversized blazer with a ruffling tulle skirt or contrasting mismatched prints on a flowing gown, she views her silhouette as an empty page and uses her wardrobe to create a narrative.
Alena Akhmadullina has been featured in publications such as Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue.com, Vogue Russia and Fashionista.com. Her creations have been worn by Naomi Campbell, actresses Eva Green and Olga Kurilenko, Angelina Jolie, Georgia May Jagger, Lauren Santo Domingo, Miroslava Duma and Elena Perminova.
